All Heading 2:s start with 1, rather than the number of Heading 1

As the title says, every time i try to create a Heading 2 -styled heading it gets numberes as 1.x rather than, say, 2.x in chapter 2

Mention OS name, LO version and save format.

I suspect you added list numbering to the Heading n paragraphs with the toolbar button. The button is a foe: depending on how you proceeded (mainly the sequence of events), you may have created independent numbering series.

Another possibility is you messed up Tools>Chapter Numbering.

For best diagnostic, attach your document.

If you save it .docx, you hit a compatibility issue: (list) numbering is based on radically different principles in Word and Writer. It is very easy with direct formatting to confuse Writer during the conversion.
