Any extension to increase column width, rather than row height, when characters exceed cell limits?

OSX Mojave 10.14.4, Libreoffice Calc 6.2

I know that Wrap Text Automatically can be used to extend the height of a row to accomodate characters that can not longer fit inside a given cell within that row, however I wonder if there is a way to set columns to extend- rather than rows/cells, to accomodate these extra characters by increasing in width.

So, is it doable or not?

Thanks as always.

AFAIK no automatic solution in the sense, that it happens while typing, but it’s not a huge effort to hover your mouse over the right border (cursor changes its appearance) of a column header and to double click to adapt the column width to fit the text.

@ Opaque that’s still a useful tip, cheers.

Just to mention: This also works for multiple columns selected (just use any right border of any column in the selected range of columns) or even on all columns by selecting the whole sheet (leftmost square on top of the sheet) and again double click on any of the column borders.
