Any users of Pralana Gold?

This is an elaborate spreadsheet-based retirement calculator/planner using macros and in Excel (.xlsm). It is pointless purchasing it if the macros won’t work in Calc. Anybody with direct experience or knowledge of this?

No experience - but most likely Excel macros (VBA) won’t work using LibreOffice, since VBA support of LibreOffice is limited (personally - won’t spend a cent for Excel macro based application for use in LibreOffice). From reading the User’s Manual it is bound to a certain Excel installation and you even cannot transfer to another Excel instance (see page 180 of the 2021 Gold User’s Manual) My conclusion: Forget the idea in combination with LibreOffice. This is completely bound to MS Excel.

Can any modifications be made in LO (or just Calc) to accommodate macros or is this the end of the road?

As you surely know making predictions is pretty hard especially when dealing with the future - but this seems to be the end of the road for - let’s guess - at least next 5 to 10 years (personally I’d support to enhance LibreOffice Basic instead of implementing support for a foreign scripting language - but this is my user perspective).

I’m not asking about predictions regarding future software development as much as whether there is any capability (present day) for a user to modify Calc to work with macros?

You simply did not understand the humor in my statement

If you need it more clearly: No, there is no capability as of today
