Application Colors not changing tables in LO 7.3.0.3

I’m trying to set table boundary colors in
Tools->Options->Libre Office->Application Colors->Table.
Using either Character->Font Effects or Table->Properties->Borders the colors can be changed, but they are not changed in the Options.

Changing the Font Effects to Font->Color->Automatic does not change to the Tools->Option->Libre Office->Application Colors font color but does change the color (to black).

The Table options in Tools seem to be ignored. The Writer’s Guide seems to indicate that Application Colors will change the colors of the changed objects.

How can I change table fonts and table borders?
TableTest.odt (9.7 KB)

I just checked again. The Character Fonts seem to work OK but I still can’t get the table border colors to change.

Use the table templates in the sidebar ( Ctrl+F5 ) or use in the Table>Auto Format menu.
Or use in the Table>Properties>Border menu.

If you want something to be permanent, you need to save the modified and customized document as a document template.

Application Colors in the options impact mainly UI aspect. They allow to customise the visual hints about object presence in the document. This is the case, for instance, of Table boundaries which are drawn to show the extent of a table and its structure. This is a fallback behaviour in case the table does not define any “identifying” mark, like a border. Of course when a border is defined in table properties, this border takes precedence on the hint.

A few Application Colors are “integrated” in the style engine and are used as ancestors to styles, notably Default Paragraph Style for Font color and the various “link” character styles for (Un)visited links.

Since this is part of the style hierarchy, you can override these very generic options by customising the corresponding styles, e.g. Default Paragraph Style. But it is a hierarchy. In other words, the override will not propagate “backwards” to its ancestor. Options will remain unchanged after a style override.
