System Requirements
Microsoft Windows
Microsoft Windows
The software and hardware prerequisites for installing LibreOffice on a Windows system are as follows:
Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, or Windows 10
Pentium-compatible PC (Pentium III, Athlon or more-recent system recommended)
256 MB RAM (512 MB RAM recommended)
Up to 1.5 GB available hard disk space
1024x768 resolution (higher resolution recommended), with at least 256 colors
Administrator rights are needed for the installation process. It is a recommended best practice to back up your system and data before you remove or install software. To find something that meets these requirements I personally recommend asking at the Tech Desk at STAPLES but that is just me.
For certain features of the software - but not most - Java is required. Java is notably required for Base.
If your laptop meets these requirements it is compatible.

thanks very much. Can you suggest the easiest method of finding a laptop with those specifications please as I am totally untech?
for example hp stream laptop, which was my last one…
The real question is not whether some hardware is compatible but rather"will the OS, notably Windows **, let LO be installed?" Then the second question is: how does LO integrate smoothly with the OS API?
Hardware side, absolutely any PC will do (Intel, AMD, PowerPC, ARM, etc.). Of course, with feature inflation, large RAM is recommended but it can be supplemented with swap (to the expense of slower performance). LO has been ported under the majority of OSes. You just have to find the adequate distribution.
