I need to link Gmail to be able to send from the programs
It is much easier to use your usual mailing app to send and attached document. Doing it from inside LO needs a technical configuration which does not seem obvious for non-techie guys.

Which one? (I’m not aware of any technique this to work for File -> Send -> Email Document
et.al. using Gmail, which isn’t an email client but a webservice [i.e. **not** talking about mail-merge and SMTP])
AFAIK, you must declare your Email program in Tools
>Options
, Internet
>Email
so that LO can create a skeleton mail with the document attached and launch the app. I’m not aware of a solution with a web browser connecting to a mail service.

that’s the way how to do it on Linux and on Windows the required setting is the default client defined for the whole operating system (Windows -Settings -> Apps -> Default Apps -> Email
)
But: OP asks for “need to link Gmail” which isn’t an email client but a webservice. That’s why I’m asking and according to your second comment, we share the same knowledge.
Do you know if the setting is dynamic? It is equal to the default app when my machine was initially installed years ago; I changed the system default app but I suppose the setting is kept in the user profile. And since I never reset it despite the updates, it remained stuck with the initial default.
I’m not quite sure about the dynamics and I share your experience. My gut feeling tells me: The integration of LibreOffice into GNOME and - esp. in my case - into KDE/Plasma made some progress. E.g. KDE/Plasma also has a notion of a default email client, which nowadays seems to take (sometimes?) precedence over the setting within LibreOffice configuration. But never examined that in detail, since I don’t use that functionality. IMO email is email and I prefer to save my files where I want 'em to be stored, before attaching 'em manually to some email program. I that sense, I’m really old fashioned and follow a every application has its specific functionality-approach (and integrate-everthing-into-onething is a nightmare, proved by many questions on this site).
I share the same opinion.
I’m also under KDE/Plasma and I email through Thunderbird. I agree with you, I have more control if I mail manually.
