I’m new to Liibre Office, but am a longtime Open Office user. In Open Office, I could have a section of text selected, then hit CTRL+F to search the document for that text. The nice thing is that the selected text would auto-populate into the search bar for the thing to find.
Is there a way to enable that behavior in Libre Office?

No. The Find field is still populated.

In LibreOffice document, if the text is in a text box (drawing object) it does not populate the Find field and is not found by Find. A word in a Frame (Insert > Frame > Frame interactively) does populate and is found.
If that odt document is saved as .doc, opened and saved in Word, then opened in LibreOffice then the text box is converted to a frame and can be searched and will populate the Find field
I didn’t readily see a way to reply otherwise, but I see it now.
As for the situation, see the attachment. If you select “7-5 (part 2) boards” find doesn’t populate correctly. If you select “sdfsdf” it goes.
I don’t fully understand most of the rest of your answer. Please advise.

It seems the Find field is not populated when you select a phrase or word in a Table Cell and then press Ctrl+F. The exception is if it is in a list in the table cell.

The good news is that the word or phrase in the table cell is still found in the search.
