autocalc - shared formula fail? would like a recheck

hi @ all,

had a little surprise, would like test’s by others before filing a bug to rule out ‘special settings’ or whatever,

reproduce:

1. System Xeon and Win7, don’t know if others affected,
2. calc ver. 7.2.0.0.a0+, don’t know if others affected,
3. key 1,2 in cell A1,
4. copy that cell with ctrl-c,
5. mark whole column A (i did by shift-ctrl-cursor-down),
6. paste the value from clipboard, ctrl-v,
7. enter cell B2 and input ‘=A1+A2’, i did by keying ‘=’, cursoring to A1, keying ‘+’, cursoring to A2, hitting enter,
8. copy that cell with ctrl-c,
9. mark cells B3:B1048576, (i did by shift-ctrl-cursor-down),
10. paste the formula by ctrl-v,
11. observe cells at the bottom of the column ‘0’,
12. observe cells B2:B1001 correct result ‘2,4’, from B1002 downwards ‘0’,
13. think ‘wrong’??

I am confused then why is there step 11, that tells to look at “cells at the bottom of the column ‘0’”, and then step 12, telling to see that “cells B2:B1001 correct result ‘2,4’, from B1002 downwards ‘0’”. What is the difference?

@mikekaganski: i don’t know if there is a difference, for me both look as wrong results, mentioned in that order as: 1. historically grown, 2. when pasting in col. B is finished the focus will likely be at the bottom cells, 3. for not to assume all results are wrong it’s meaningful to look at the upper cells too, 4. when going up the user might miss the point where the results change, 5. if the results change at another point for other users it might say something about options running 'til 1000 on my system … it’s as often with bugs, i don’t know what’s important and what isn’t, thus described in a manner that other users can try a identical rerun …

Trying to file bugs about 7.2 is way too early. Absolutely no sense. Don’t do that unless you also see the problem in a released or beta version (7.2 now is pre-alpha).
