AutoCorrect does not always work

Hi folks,
I am comfortable with AutoCorrect in Writer but the angle quotes substitution does not work out-of-the-box.
That’s, there is already a default option selected:

but it does not work.
In order to have the automatic substitution, I have to manually add entries for the two cases (« and »).

Did you noticed it?

What language have you set for the paragraph style in which AutoCorrect doesn’t work?

I set it to Italian

In French I just have to press the " to get ». I did try << and >> but nothing changed.
If I set the paragraph style to Italian and press " I get curly English quotes, or << nothing changes. Compared to French, not getting » when " is pressed, looks like a bug.

The angle quotes are under localised options so it might need locale set to Italy. That would be counterintuitive as you want it for language, not location.

You could use the keyboard shortcuts listed here, Guillemet - Wikipedia

I opened a bug report here: 166217 – AutoCorrect ignores default substitutions, works with others

It works for me in Spanish / Galician / German.
