Autocorrect doesn't work.

I am experiencing two distinct, critical issues in LibreOffice Writer (I am running LibreOffice version 25.8 on windows

Problem 1: Incorrect Smart Quotes Conversion
Previously, the Smart Quotes (Typographical Quotes) feature was working correctly, automatically inserting the curved opening quote (“) and curved closing quote (”).
Recently, without any apparent change to settings, the software now incorrectly inserts the closing quote (”) for all instances, regardless of whether it is an opening or a closing quotation mark.

This means that instead of seeing “Hello,” I am seeing ”Hello,” in my documents, forcing me to manually correct every quotation mark.

Problem 2: Lost AutoCorrect Changes

I also noticed that my ability to apply and edit AutoCorrect suggestions has stopped working.

When I go to Tools > AutoCorrect > AutoCorrect Options… and make changes, those changes seem to disappear or are not applied after I click OK. My custom or applied corrections are not being saved or loaded by the program.

Urgency

This issue is occurring across a large, sensitive document of approximately 380 pages. Manually correcting all quotation marks and formatting errors is a massive task.

Could you please advise on how to troubleshoot these two separate issues? Specifically:

  1. How can I restore the correct behavior for Smart Quotes (or confirm the settings related to Unicode U+201C and U+201D)?
  2. What steps can I take to ensure my AutoCorrect changes are being saved and applied correctly?

What would be interesting is a screenshot after pressing the double quotes buttons for start and end. When you press, the dialog tells you which substitute is presently active (right part of the window). Perhaps, the substitutes are the same for start and end.

The second screenshot is related to Track Changes features, not to AutoCorrect rules. The list of active rules is shown with Tools>AutoCorrect>AutoCorrect Options, Replace tab.

What language is the document in? Or does it include different languages?
The quotation marks for Sweden and Finland look like what you describe in this Wikipedia article, Quotation mark - Wikipedia

Sweden (and Finland) chose a convention where the convexity of both marks was aimed to the right but lined up both at the top level: ”…”.[citation needed]
