AutoCorrect Inaccuracy

I’m running V.24.8.2.1 on Windows 10 Pro 64bit. The autocorrect options for em and en dashes are inaccurate. For example: Now is the – time (space-two dashes-space) for all — good (space-three dashes-space) men to—come (no space-two dashes-no space) to the aid of their party. The space-two dashes-space for an en dash throws up an error every time (not able to paste wavy underline here), and the em dash without spaces is two dashes without any spaces before or after. These mistakes were present in the previous version–surely they can be fixed in the next.

Spaces around dashes seem to be a matter of style and personal taste. The only thing which exhibit some kind of standardisation is usage context for dash, en-dash and em-dash. See for example How to Use Em Dashes (—), En Dashes (–) , and Hyphens (-) | Merriam-Webster.

I bet there are as many preferred settings as users. So your best move is probably to configure Tools>AutoCorrect>AutoCorrect Options, Replace tab to your taste. You should be able to handle the surrounding spaces as desired.
