I have a simple data base with an entry form, and a table form. When looking through the records in the table form, I’d like to be able to select a record of interest and open it in the entry form. I would have thought I could perhaps double-click it, or right-click it to get this to happen, but no such luck. Is this possible in LibreOffice Base?
I recommend to have a look at the free guides which you can download from http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/
Forms are used mainly to enter data. Tables are where the records exist.
I am not aware of a method of moving directly from a record in table to that record in a form. Of course I may be wrong I am a newbie with Base.
Presumably you have discovered that you may directly edit records in tables, you do not need to go to a form to do that.
If you are in a form and have a lot of records another tip is to key in record numbers, instead of using the navigation arrows, as it can be much quicker if the record required is not at the start or end.
A simple solution is to use a table control (grid) in your FORM to get a list which functions in the same way as the listing in the table window. You should also be able to edit any record (row) in this list, and search for the record ID you want using the form-based filter buttons.
