LO 7.6.1, Win 11, .odt doc
When I do a direct formatting of a word to make it bold, it also italicizes the word. This happens whether I use a keyboard shortcut of Ctl+B or click on the ribbon B icon. This is a new doc with text that is special pasted in (fully unformatted) from a Word doc.
Is this also the case when you open a blank new document in Writer and write a word to make it bold?
Given this and your previous issue, I would be inclined to close LibreOffice, go to Control Panel - Programs and features, right click LibreOffice and select Repair. Then click Start menu - Restart (not Shut down) to restart Windows.
After that, I would rename the user folder to get the equivalent of a new, first time installation.
