Bucket Default color

the default color for the “bucket” (background color option) is set to yellow. How can I change that to another color? I’m using grey 99% of the time (writer and calc) so this is very annoying to have this yellow coming back all the time.

Please paste here the information on Menu/Help/About LibreOffice (There is an icon to copy)

There you go:
Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 1; OS: Linux 6.8; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.8
Calc: threaded

Calc
Consider creating a cell style that you can apply by double clicking it in the sidebar.

This version’s Background Colour palette retains the last colour it was set to, but not previous versions I tested.

Version: 25.2.1.1 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: e538fb6403facdfd3db0250c3b3278236c675c2a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 22631); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded
.
Writer
The Character Highlighting Colour palette in Writer in 25.3.1.1 also retains the last colour used. But you should definitely use Character styles rather than ad hoc application colouring.
.
The last Paragraph Area colour is not retained in the palette except as a recent colour in the sidebar. Again, there is not much use for it here as the relevant paragraph style should include the area colour.

sorry robot, but you’re off track. Better luck next time!

  • The bucket icon retains the last colour set across restarts in 25.2.1.1. Isn’t that what you want?
  • Cell styles are easy ways to apply a format and maintain consistency through a spreadsheet. You can apply a colour as default for that cell style.
  • In Writer Paragraph and character styles are an important way maintain consistency but for longer documents they speed up display and reduce the chances of corruption.

EARNESTAL.
