Perhaps this is specific to the source and I don’t intend to discuss or characterise it further, but I’m interested to know whether any similar behaviour has been observed.

If you are already sure that it is a bug, you should report it on Bugzilla.
I don’t have time to characterise it sufficiently for a bug report. I was really just curious as to whether anyone else had observed similar behaviour.
Update: If I start LO with --safe-mode (I’m using AppImage) it seems to run with fewer problems. I did have a snap install (I really hate snap) and I now wonder if my AppImage instance is interacting with remnants of a zombie snap profile.
Update: I also believe a lot of the problems I’ve been experiencing occur in the presence of embedded youtube videos in the copied web page. Why is LO even trying to process this kind of content?? Hmmph.
