Bug(?) when starting LIbreOffice Base

I’ve installed 64-bit JRE, but LibreOffice Base Won’t Let Me Use Table Wizard.

I’ve installed LibreOffice and tried using Base. But when I try to create or open a *.obd file using the table wizard I get this message: “LibreOffice requires a 64-bit runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. Please install a JRE and restart LibreOffice.”

I’ve done this and rebooted, but the problem presists. The other LibreOffice programs seem to work fine.

Steps to create error message:

  1. Start Base
  2. Program asks if I want to create a new database. Click Next.
  3. Program asks if the wizard to register the database in LibreOffice. Yes.
Program asks if I want to open the database for editing. (default check box)
Program asks if I want to create tables using the table wizard (I check the
    box)
  4. I click the Finish button.
  5. Creates database.
  6. Error message appears

I’ve submitted a Bugzilla report (Bug tdf#168631)

You missed - here and in your bug report - two vital pieces of information; the LO version you are using (from Help → About) and your operating system.

and in case you haven’t seen this response in the report:

Have you selected the JRE in Menu->Tools ->Options ->LibreOffice >Advanced?

And just to clarify: the bits that you put in the bug’s metadata (the “OS” and “Version” fields) are not enough. Firstly, these fields may change, at which point, the details about the original problem environment would be lost; and next, HelpAbout has more important details.

Also, what specific JRE have you installed?

Here you go:

JRE Version: jre1.8.0_461

C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_461\bin

LO Version: 25.8.1.1

Windows 11 Home

Please view the attached file, which has screenshots.

What you show is not a 64-bit JRE, it’s 32-bit one.

You’re right. My bad.

I installed the 64-bit version and now LO Base works.

Thanks.
