Calc Cell Context Menu Paste Special

In the 24.2 series and earlier you could Copy, Paste Special whole series of values to Add, Subtract, Multiply or Devide with each other in one operation.
In the 24.8 series these fine options are gone, in fact the whole Paste Special Menu did change into something I hardly recognize.
Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Well, then I get this

Version: 24.8.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 48a6bac9e7e268aeb4c3483fcf825c94556d9f92
CPU threads: 6; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (10.0 build 19045); UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_NL); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

and it gives both from head as from Context menu something totaly different like this

Interesting; I’ve just upgraded LO to

Version: 24.8.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 480(Build:2)
CPU threads: 16; OS: Linux 5.15; UI render: default; VCL: x11
Locale: en-AU (wbp_AU.UTF-8); UI: en-US
SlackBuild for 24.8.3 by Eric Hameleers
Calc: threaded

and I no longer see the see the expanded options as per @karolus screenshot.
But see @karolus comment about the source of the copy. Using Calc as source does indeed provide the extended options.

hm… with me:

Version: 24.8.3.2 (AARCH64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 48a6bac9e7e268aeb4c3483fcf825c94556d9f92
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 6.6; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); UI: de-DE
Flatpak
Calc: threaded

of course… the »paste-special-Dialog« from my Comment only occurs if the primary clipboard entry comes from calc

Given the screenshot clearly shows “Source: Libreoffice 24.8 Spreadsheet” it originates from Calc. For some reason you are seeing the dialogue that you would see if you Paste Special from Calc into Writer.

If it still persists after restart of computer, I would test in LibreOffice safe mode. If it works OK in Safe Mode I would consider renaming the user profile, see LibreOffice user profile - The Document Foundation Wiki. Although it might instead be related to the number of extensions installed.

Version: 24.8.3.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 48a6bac9e7e268aeb4c3483fcf825c94556d9f92
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 11 X86_64 (10.0 build 22631); UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-NZ (en_NZ); UI: en-GB
Calc: CL threaded

Restarting the computer did not solve the problem.

Restarting LO in safe mode: I have NO option for that in the Help menu so it gets funnier

by the minute. If you watch my screenshot you can see that there is also something wrong with my highlighted focus cell. It seems to be in reverse. Not that I dislike it, but…

The user profile: I still have to study that one.

Thanks for your answer so far it will help me filing a bug later on.

Update: I found the safemodenot inside LO but in Windows Start Menu but still the same problem even after resetting userinterface and userprofile to factory values. Time to file a bug report? Or throwing a handgrenade and killing the complete userprofile?

First try repairing the installation. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features, right click LibreOffice and select Repair
.
BTW you might like to untick the Solved mark and replace it with a like. The problem, for you still exists.
.
[Edit]
Maybe you were upgrading LibreOffice at the same time that Windows was installing upgrades or waiting to restart after the upgrade. Weird stuff can happen in that period. I always stop and Restart Windows as soon as it’s says it needs to restart; it takes less time than sorting out the mess later.

The Repair function did not work for me.
What I found out that there are two Paste Special functions. Screenshot.
The first one gives me that false menu, the second does nothing at all.
And about Restarting Windows it gets sometimes in an endless loop with no other way resetting the computer. “Do not shut down your computer”, yes very nice but what can you do else after several hours of waiting while nothing happens?

Let it run over night and if that doesn’t come to an end: Check Windows Update on unfinished tasks. Maybe you need to de-install one update. If Windows is not restarting without problems, this may block other updates. But I don’t think this a likely cause here.
.
Wild guess: Interference with a clipboard-manager… But because of the double entry in your menu I would manually rename the profile, then do a complete re-install.

Thank you. Indeed I have a clipboard manager but that never gave problems before LO 24.8 series, so?

Besides that I do not understand how a clipboardmanager can disturb only a small part of another programs menu structure and options. I did remove LO 24.8 and the userprofile and then made a fresh install. No luck, still the same false Paste Special Menu. And I found out that Paste only number, text, formula, etc are also not working.

So I think the problem is inside LO 24.8 (more Copy/Paste bugs have been reported) but that would mean that other users would have the same problem and that seems not to be the case (see Karolus above).

I do not know what to test next. For the time being I return to LO 24.2

Personally, I would concentrate on getting Windows working correctly and up to date.
.
When that is fixed, rename your profile and reinstall LibreOffice. Don’t add any extensions until you have had a chance to use LibreOffice a bit and make sure it is running correctly. Then add extensions back one at a time testing between each.
.

Because clipboard managers fiddle with the clipboard and tend to destroy information the application that is pasted into needs. I call them “clipboard destroyers” for a reason. That’s likely the reason why you see the external content Paste-Special options instead of the Calc internal dialog.

Yes, thank you, I know, but it is that inside LO 24.8 something changed in the course of the program because in 24.2 and earlier there was no such problem of two different Paste Special Menus. It was the first time that I ran into trouble with the clipboard.

Microsoft never took an interest in their Windows clipboard. It is still as limited as back in 1995.

So multiclipboardmanagers can be very useful. I have one that comes with its own scriptlanguage.

It can fill up, for instance, at high speed hundreds of data collected from all kind of different applications, webpages, etc. into a preformatted spreadsheet…

No, actually there is now clipboard history and even sync between computers (and you will find here the suggestion not to activate this…)

Sorry, I forgot all about this (minor) improvement. Never used it.

My clipboardprogram exist of 20 sheets holding 500 items each…

BTW, could this be an option for LO?

Automatically grabbing windows clipboard, put it in a spreadsheet and spit it to the desired col?

It would make the program unique in the world. I guess
