Calc changing character upon editing string in cell

While editing a string in a cell around the character “-”, that character sometimes becomes “–”. (which is not a problem in excel but if that string will later be used to identify a file, a error will occur as the file name will differ). Quite nasty to find if you’re not primed what to look for.

Have a look at the settings for Tools | Autocorrect Options in Calc.

Also consider upgrading from a five year old to a current version of LibreOffice.
