Calc Crashing Help

I am new to LibreOffice and I am trying to figure out its features, but I am getting many crashes.
I have submitted a crash log on each crash, but I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a fix.

At this point, all of my crashes have been in LibreOffice Calc. I am using

Version: 24.8.4.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: bb3cfa12c7b1bf994ecc5649a80400d06cd71002
CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10 X86_64 (10.0 build 19045); UI render: default; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

I have had crashes when searching, creating a lookup function, and inserting a chart. When it does crash, I can repeat the same steps and it will crash again.

I searched and found that it is recommended to * Click Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View and try ticking the box Force Skia software rendering.

  • If you still get crashes then Untick the box Use Skia for all rendering

I have tried all combinations of these options with no success.

I am using the latest version (572.16 installed 1/30/25)of the Nvidia driver for my video card.

I have not tried Safe mode, as I am new to the program and did not want to potentially not have features enabled. I will be trying version 25.2.0 next, but though with as many crashes, I have been getting that there might be a known issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Was the graphics driver, updated through Windows update or directly from Nvidia?

If it is a laptop then probably LibreOffice will be using integrated graphics rather than the NVIDIA card.

Check if the computer manufacturer has updated drivers for integrated graphics first. For my Acer, the Acer software said I had up to date drivers but when I went to the Acer website, I found a newer driver which was essentially the Intel driver. Updating to that made a big difference

Not a laptop and build-in GPU is disabled in the BIOS.
