calc files are using dates or times for all cells even when the cell has been assigned to money or numbers. Even new files are doing this. I was hoping in the updates it would be fixed, but it’s not. I reuse files and even when the cell has had a number in it before it puts a date or time format in the cell instead. I want this to stop. How can I do so?

Yes, but it does that even when I change it back to what it’s supposed to be (date or money). It doesn’t matter that I’ve tried to correct this problem. Also, I can change the format for the whole column, go down to where I want to put in the new information (or see the old information corrected) and it won’t change.
The Default style has that number format set. Hit F11 or go to Style → Manage Style, right click Default, go to tab Numbers, select Number General format, hit OK. See all your values change to raw numeric values in cells that don’t have an explicit number format assigned. Apply number formats as needed or create styles derived from Default and apply those.
