Is there a way to make row numbers a default on new Calc files?
Would like to always print the row number.

Create a template and populate 1 column with =ROW( ) and save the template, then when you want to use a sheet with row number on open the template. Just remember if you need to insert a row you need to copy the =ROW( ) in to new row. Let us know if it helps.

Works like a champ - THANK YOU!
If you always want them printed and don’t mind printing column headers too, but not taking up room in the actual spreadsheet then
Create a new sheet (without =ROW() in answer below)
Click Format > Page Style > Sheet and under the heading Print, tick the box Column and row headers
Click File > Templates > Save as Template in the dialogue enter a name for the new template, click Set as default and click Save button.
New spreadsheets will print the row numbers and column letters
Even better - Thanks Earnest!
