Calc: Named ranges-Hyperlinks in one sheet-C and R not working

I produced an alphabetised list similar to a contents list at the back of a book and added a hyperlinked alphabet as a heading linked to each of the section headings for easy navigation.

I did this using named ranges and linking the quick find letter, with the corresponding section heading letter and named range, using the single sheet option.

This was no problem including having a return to top hyperlink for 24 from the 26 letters. I cannot get C and R to work. I can produce the hyperlinked quick find letter but cannot create a named range “C” or “R”. Having carried out the process successfully I do not tink I am the issue and the hyperlink is setup ready the link to the range but the problem remains with the use of C and R as names for the ranges.

When naming the ranges a blue line appears at the top stating that it is an invalid name and only letters numbers or underscore are accepted. I checked for spaces none present and changed the font to a more basic one but the problem remains.

C and R are reserved words, because they are used in R1C1 notation.

Thank you Mike, I thought I was going mad.
