Calc not saving in originating folder when doing Save as

Version: 24.8.6.1 (X86_64)
Build ID: 480(Build:1)
CPU threads: 8; OS: Linux 6.13; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Calc: threaded

Hello, I have been happily using Calc for many years, and when I open an existing Calc file, and do a Save as, Calc saves the file in the folder from which the file was opened.

For the first time yesterday, when I did a Save as, Calc started initially to save files in the Documents folder.

After noticing this, I then manually selected the target folder. This works fine.

But from now on, when I open another file from another location, and do a Save as, Calc will use the folder location of the previous file I opened, which is a different, and incorrect folder.

So I have to be careful to make sure I manually select the correct folder whenever I do a Save as.

I would really like to have the original behaviour back, where Calc saves in the folder from which the file was opened.

I noticed Version: 24.8.6.1 was just released a few days ago - could this be a bug?

Thanks ahead of time for any assistance

Please test in safe mode, Menu/Help/Restart in Safe Mode

@mariosv - Thanks for your reply. I restarted in safe mode, and now Calc > Save as chooses the Documents folder as the folder to save to, not the folder where the file was opened from. So the issue is still happening.

I don’t have any Linux. Just a faint hunch: Do you (as the user as which you are logged in) still have write permission for the folder from which the document was loaded?
Was there ever a problem with Save ( no As...)?

@Lupp - Thanks for your reply. I see where you are going with this - if I lose write privileges to the folder, Calc may select another folder to save to. But I can simply select the correct folder to save to, and the file saves fine, so I dont think there is a permission problem.

Bug 165917 - PDF exports to most recent directory, not to current directory

The reported bug should NOT be related to this, as the cause is an “intended” (not by everybody) change in 25.2, while @JLLibre reports 24.8

I still have this issue with 24.8.6.1 - any help would be still very much appreciated.

Same behavior in Writer. “Save as” and “export” go to last used location not current location from where was the file opened. Very frustrating. I rolled back to 25.2.0.3 where this bug is absent.

If you read the bug report, you would know that it is fixed for 25.2.3.2 which is available for download now.
