Calc Puts a Letter Following Inputted Number on Entry

I couldn’t figure out how to phrase this for a search, so here goes.

I’ve got a spreadsheet and when I type a number to input to some of the cells, Calc puts an ‘a’ following the number. For example, I type ‘7’ and it shows ‘7a’, so I have to delete the ‘a’ to get only the ‘7’ in the cell. This is a major pain. How can I get Calc to stop doing this?

Hello,

probably you don’t like option Tools -> [x] AutoInput

Hope that helps.

hmmm. doesn’t do that on mine. Perchance, do you have the NUMBER FORMAT with an “a” in it?
(shooting in the dark)

Thank you very much. That seems to have fixed it. As a long time (very long time) Excel user, and a new LO user, I have to discern the subtle differences.

The cells are formatted as just integers; I’ve never heard of a number format that includes a letter as you indicated. Reminds me of those companies that include letters in their customers’ IDs, yet they call the ID an ID number.
