Calc: retain formulae/other characteristics of cells in row above when inserting row below?

LO 6, OS Mojave

Hi all, just wondering if there is a way to insert a row whilst maintaining all characteristics of the row above, such as formatting, formulae, etc.

I am creating a spreadsheet containing formulae/other characteristics (such as drop-down lists) that need to be preserved in new rows that are created- rather than creating a macro to create a new row then copy/paste the characteristics of the row above, I am wondering if these characteristics can be preserved when the action of creating the new row is completed…

Thanks.

Hi, @appreciatethehelp, There is no automatic function in LibreOffice, just by macro, copy the last line and paste only Formula and Format below.

Format could be inherited. See .gif at Why does Calc insert formatting randomly

Hello

  • Select the row whose properties (or part of it) you want to maintain
  • Right click -> Copy
  • Right click -> Paste Special
  • Select what you want to preserve
  • Important Set [o] Down under section Shift Cells

and you get you row inserted with the properties you selected to be preserved.

Hope that helps.

  • Select the original row/s: to do it press Shift+Space bar, or press on the row header/s.
  • Press Ctrl+Alt and drag the selected row/s to the position below the selected one/s.
