The rows in Calc are too narrow for my use and eyesight. Is there a way to globally increase the height of all rows?
The default height of rows is based on the font size of cell style Default. Hence increasing the font size of cell style Default and saving via File -> Templates -> Save as Template... (don’t forget to tick [x] Set as default template) will use a larger row height (and “yes, the font is larger as well”).

Try to adjust the Zoom value. It will enlarge the view only.
If you want to set a larger height of the rows (but not wider columns), then you must create and apply a new Default template.

After doing some more research, I found an answer. I don’t know if it is the best solution, but it works for me:
Globally Change Calc Row Height
Open default spreadsheet.
Ctrl-A to globally select all rows.
Change font size to get the desired new row height.
Save as a template for future use.

It will not modify the properties of the future inserted sheets.
Modify the default Cell Style instead of the manual (direct) formatting.
