Calc: Scrolling down with mouse-wheel very erratic - Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS

I believe this used to work and now it is broken. Specific versions pasted below:

Version: 7.3.7.2 / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 30(Build:2)
CPU threads: 48; OS: Linux 6.2; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 1:7.3.7-0ubuntu0.22.04.3
Calc: threaded

Works fine scrolling up. Focus is on the Calc app. Scrolling down it either doesn’t move at all, or jumps a few rows. Grabbing scroll bar works fine as well.

I had a mouse that did that too, something to do with the contacts on the wheel sensor. Its replacement lasted almost a year, then I bought a more expensive, more robust mouse with optical sensor.

It’s not the mouse. It works fine in other applications, even LibreOffice Writer. I also checked to see how it worked in LibreOffice Calc in Windows 11. It works fine there too. Here’s the version information when booted in Windows:

Version: 7.5.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ca8fe7424262805f223b9a2334bc7181abbcbf5e
CPU threads: 48; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Vulkan; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

I now see that the Windows version is later than the Ubuntu version. Is that the problem?

Well, as I mentioned in the previous reply, the Windows version was a later version than my Ubuntu version. So, I found a resource on the web for upgrading LibreOffice on my Ubuntu. Here’s the link to the page: https://libre-software.net/linux/how-to-install-libreoffice-on-ubuntu-linux-mint/

The page cautions making this upgrade since it is safer to use the version that is in the distribution repository. I decided to go ahead and upgrade. I followed the instructions and I am now upgraded to the same version in both Windows and Ubuntu.

Version: 7.5.5.2 (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 50(Build:2)
CPU threads: 48; OS: Linux 6.2; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3
Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8); UI: en-US
Ubuntu package version: 4:7.5.5~rc2-0ubuntu0.22.04.1~lo1
Calc: threaded

Problem gone!
