Calc shows symbol (۞) in input line, but shows as unreadble square in cell

So I was using this symbol ۞ to ‘star’ certain cells in Calc. It was working fine until I recently updated to OO 4.1.3 - and now the ‘starred’ cells show the character placeholder rectangle instead (still with the right font colour/formatting though).

Strangely the ۞ symbol is still showing up in the input line.

Any ideas how on what’s going wrong & how to fix it?

Did you try to change the font used for cell formatting?
