Calc Simple Conditional Formatting Not Working

This is a simple function for formatting a set of cells in LibreCalc, but I can’t get it to work. I am using LibreOffice 7.2.1.2 (x64), Windows 10, ThinkPad L14.

  1. I have a column of currency data. Example values: $1,234.00 … -$54.22 … etc. Some are positive values, some are negative values.

  2. I want to conditionally format the negative values in red.

  3. For the column range I have set the condition as: “Cell value”, “is less than”, “0”, Apply Style of a custom definition named “NUMBER RED”. (Quotation marks are not included in the definition of the condition, I have only put them here for clarity).

I have selected: Data>Calculate>AutoCalculate

The result is nothing, no application of the conditional formatting. I’ve tried recalculating … removing all conditions from the sheet … and applying other styles existing in LibreCalc. Doesn’t work.

Any suggestions?

I have read multiple LibreOffice Help documents, and have searched the Internet. This should be quite simple. Can’t figure what the problem is.

Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks for your response. Yes, the conditional formatting you’ve done is very similar to what I’ve done. The problem remains that it will not work for me. Very frustrating.

You have to upload an example file demonstrating your problem. Otherwise it will be a never ending guessing.
Did you notice the formula column I have added to my file?
