Calc will not let me put a value ("nwe") in a cell - it autocorrects regardless

I’m trying to type a value in a cell in Calc. That value is: nwe

Every time, it immediately changes to “new” instead. I’ve gone in and turned off every single spelling, grammar, dictionary, etc, and it keeps doing it. I’ve tried typing extra letters, then going back and editing it. The second I tab away, it changes it again. I need the field to not have any other characters in it, too. How the heck do I get around this?

Autocorrection is controlled by Tools|AutoCorrect Options. You may disable it altogether by disabling Use replacement table in the dialog:

Or you may remove a single autocorrection entry:

If you tried to do the latter part, but it still happened, it could happen that you removed it from a different language’s replacement table (e.g., from en-US, while your document is en-GB).

And also note, that you may keep the autocorrection, and simply press Ctrl+Z (Undo) immediately after autocorrection, to undo it and restore the “nwe”.
