can gtk3 cause calc to crash regularly

Installed Cairo-Dock 3.4.0 recently. It uses gtk3-engines. After Cairo installation my Calc (version 5.0) began to crash regularly. I upgraded to LibreOffice 5.2.7 and the problem seemed to be solved but a few days later the problem returned. If I load my existing Calc files, Calc crashes.

Searching the web I have found reference that LibreOffice could be using gtk3 instead of gtk2 and that it was partially incompatible.

Could this be true and if yes what can I do about it.
