Can I just move my profile from 7.6.7.2 to 24.2.7.2?

I’m migrating from version 7.6.7.2 to 24.2.7.2 due to an OS change.

As far as I can find out, just copying the profile to the new location should work.

Did I miss something or is 24.2.7.2 compatible with the earlier profiles?

the »profile« at all is compatible, but I can imaging some minor issues caused by settings from $( old_OS ) NOT available on $( new_OS )
So … try and fix the settings according to new OS

So they are compatible but there might be issues arising from going from Ubuntu to Mint

Yes, but from »Ubuntu« to »Mint« I wouldnt expect issues at all.
