I accidently deleted a docx when I was renaming it and instead hit the delete button. It had been saved prior to this incident
Did you check in your Recycle Bin - assuming your OS has one? Otherwise download Recuva (Windows only) or PhotoRec for Win, MacOS, Linux and other OSes (only one needed) and use that to undelete your file
i use ms windows 10 - not sure where to find the recycle bin…
Recycle Bin can usually be found on your desktop. Alternatively, you can find it via “Windows Start” in the apps.
LibreOffice internally
LibreOffice offers via the menu Tools>Options>Load/Save
under “Save” the possibility to save the car recovery information every “X minutes” (“X” stands for the number of minutes). LibreOffice uses the autorecovery info to recover a file after a crash.
In addition, a check mark can be set under “always create backup copy”. When you save a document, the previously saved version of the document is saved in a copy with the extension .bak.
The next time it is saved, it will be overwritten by the next state. This is a measure that is primarily designed to let you go back to an earlier state yourself if you have made mistakes while editing a document.
Backups are stored in the directory set under the menu Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Paths
for backup copies. On Windows 10, the backup copies are in the directory by default
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\backup
deposited.
If a backup storage is specified, you can in the directory
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\user\backup
see if there is a backup file.
If you find a backup file, you should rename it, from .bak to .odt.
I wish you success.
With me Windows 10 Home; Version 1903; 64-Bit | LibreOffice, Version: 6.3.0.4 (x64).
thanks for this information. I found that back up was checked so my docs should have been backed up. I found the Backups as you indicate above, but I didnt find any documents. not sure where to look next, or what to do next… Crisis averted as a colleague had a copy of the deleted document, but I’d still like to know how to recover a doc. Thanks for your help
