Can I turn off auto scroll feature when Character Highlight is selected?

Hi,

When I select Character Highlight tool, the page automatically scrolls up or down if my mouse cursor is near the top or the bottom of the page.

While this could be a good feature for someone who exactly needs it, for me I was hoping if there was a way to turn this off - especially since I already have mouse scroll wheel to perfectly serve that function.

Can I turn this feature off? If so, how?

Thanks.

EDIT: My OS is Win 10, and the LibreOffice is 24.8.4.2.

It is not a feature - this is just how it’s implemented, without keeping the view position (it would require some effort to keep it). We have tdf#106773, collecting other bugs about unwanted scroll. Your problem needs to be filed as a new bug

Thank you for your reply. I see that there is no turn-off feature, but I don’t understand; if what you say is true, isn’t it that the Writer is functioning as designed and just that I prefer it to be some different way? Wouldn’t that complaint belong to, say, feature suggestion, rather than the bug report?

  1. No.
  2. That actually doesn’t matter. We use a single bug tracker for both bugs and feature requests; and the only difference is which “severity” setting you define for your report (and that is editable later). So don’t spend time thinking if it’s a bug of a feature request.
