In Visio I can choose a spreadsheet as a datasource, then select a shape, and then drag a field from the spreadsheet into the drawing. The drawing then gets the text from the spreadsheet fields added to it automatically.
This is INCREDIBLY useful when building large network diagrams with hundreds of systems since I can pull the data from our existing spreadsheets onto the diagram.
