Can LibreOffice open Lotus WordPro (.lwp) files?

.lwp to libreoffice

Yes. But that would be a Lotus WordPro file, and you should be able to use Writer’s built-in import filter.

Keep the file as named including the .lwp extension. Add extension if it has been removed.

Then in Writer, File → Open, and in the GUI file selector be sure to change the All Files to the “Lotus WordPro Document (.lwp)” extension to ensure the correct import filter is used.

There are example files that the LWP filter cannot handle (e.g., fdo#41702). Whether these date from prior to Lotus Smart Suite 97 (which in the source code is indicated as being unsupported) is unclear. I have even experienced problems attempting to open LWP sample files from the Lotus FTP site.

you’ll have to determine - *.lpw or *.lwp ?

LibO open such files from 3.3.1 version. File format is not associated by default with Writer. “It doesn’t process lwp files perfectly but it does work…”

Sorry that should be lwp (Word perfect)
