Can Multiple versions of LOO be installed?

I have tried to install an earlier version of LOO as the current LOO 5 won’t work with Dragon Voice-2-Text.
Had to delete the V5 as it would not retro-install.
Installed V4.2.2 and Dragon works fine with it.
BUT would like to stay up-2-date and be able to try out LOO 5 again as it updates.
WITHOUT losing the currently working V4.2.2.

Hi

Yes you can install several versions and have different profiles. See the documentation here.

As you can read for windows there is even a tool to facilitate installation (SIGUI).

Hi @plexorite

I currently have 5.0.0.5 con-currently installed with 4.4.4.3 under Debian 6.0. The one possible issue with this arrangement is that both versions share the same Profile:-

.config/libreoffice/4/user

Apart from that, I haven’t noticed any problems.

YMMV

Due to testing for contributions in the fora mainly, I keep a lot of different versions. Except for a prerelease possibly, I prefer to use portable versions (packaged in .paf.exe) not needing any installation for the purpose. Many versions are offered also in .paf.exe by TheDocumentFoundation via Index of /libreoffice/old (despite the URL even very new ones, too).

A few years ago I tested PortableApps (the platform and many apps) under Ubuntu with the Wine layer. The platform itself and many applications, PortableLibO among them, worked well and with sufficient efficiency in this environment.
