Can no longer double-click in sheet area to create a new sheet

In previous versions of calc (current 24.8.1.2 x86_64 on Ubuntu) you could double-click in the sheet area to create a new sheet and it would create the sheet and pop-up the name dialogue. In this version, you seem to have to click the pretty sheet icon, which creates the sheet, then click on the new sheet name (Sheetx) and give it a name.

Does anyone know: Is this a bug or feature removal.

Thanks
Paul

With any version of OpenOffice and LIbreOffice, double-clicking on a sheet tab opens a dialog to rename the sheet.

I guess i wasn’t clear, but formerly double-clicking in a blank area to the right of the listed sheets tabs, created a new sheet. Now it does not, you have to click the new sheet icon on the left of the tabs.

Just wondering if this is a bug or a new “feature”.

I confirm this behaviour on LO 24.8.1.2, Slackware Linux.

I guess it is due to the resolution of this bug since 7.6,
Bug 112417 - UI - Insert Sheet called when clicking anywhere on the footer
.
Note that a single click was sufficient to call the Insert Sheet dialogue.

The + icon in front of the first sheet tab calls the dialog for a new sheet.

In my view, this is the expected behavior. Double-clicking anywhere on the title bar should maximize the window, regardless of the presence of a Maximize icon. Both double-click and right-click options are for experienced users, allowing them to perform actions quickly and efficiently.
