Is there a way to total a column of numbers in a table in Writer?
There are some (very few and insufficient) formula functions usable in Writer tables.
You may start with an “=” when entering something into a TextTable cell, and will then get offered the formula bar.
Anyway: If there is need of substantial calculations, use an inserted spreadsheet.
>Insert>Object>OLEobject>>LibreOffice spreadsheet
.
LibreOffice always gives access to its enhanced power without a need to change the used application.
The calculating functionality of TextTable objects with its extremely reduced power is only a wrong track introduced by MS (imo).
I guess you search this:
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOoAuthors_User_Manual/Writer_Guide/Using_spreadsheet_functions_in_a_table
So you may use something like
=sum<A2:A5>
But use it only for simple things, as you have Calc available.
OMG, reading that hurts … (btw, also available in LibreOffice Writer Guide)
Basic spreadsheet functions in tables are much the same as in LibreOffice Calc.
At least we fixed that =sum <B1>+<C2>
from the older screenshot…
Another, also short and incomplete, source of information is in help.
