Cannot generate the simplest document. Cannot enter text. Only the cursor works.

Please edit your question to elaborate more. Fedora 37 has switched to Wayland by default. This may cause problems. Which is your desktop manager, KDE or GNOME? Which is your graphics card, Intel, Radeon, nVidia?

Perhaps you are not in edit mode.
Try Menu/Edit/Edit Mode
