When I attempt to “Save as…” I get a spinning wheel for a while and then just back to the document. No error message. Using MacOS 10.15.7. Can just plain “Save” the modified document.
Have you tried with Save a Copy?

Didn’t think to do that.
I just did and it worked. Then, for the heck of it, I tried another “Save as…” and that worked too! Go figure! Thank you for resolving my issue.
