Can't edit spread sheet

Can’t highlight text.

Welcome @Joedpr!
We need more information to be able to help you!

  1. Tell us which version of Calc you are using: copy the information you get from the menu Help > About.
  2. Does it happen for all files or a specific file? You can upload one sample file by using the 7th button on the reply box toolbar.
  3. Did this behavior start recently?

By highlight, do you mean when you select text you cannot see the selection? It could be tdf#160036 if you have Force Skia software rendering ticked and High contrast mode.
Should be OK in LibreOffice 7.6.x and prior versions
According to last comment in bug it might be fixed in 24.2.2.2 (not .1 nor .0); due to space constraints, I cannot check however.

Thanks Steph 1for trying to help.

I’m no computer expert, the sheet in question is a simple lesson schedule with no formulas, simply text.

Version: 7.6 (X86_64)/LibreOffice Community
Build: e19e193f88cd6c0525a17fb7a176ed8e6a3e2aa1

This problem has been happening for quite some time with this spreadsheet, I don’t have any others. Simply put, I can’t edit the spreadsheet; It’s not true, if I open a writing document, everything works fine. Tried with a new Calc spreadsheet, same problem, I can add text, but I can’t highlight it for editing. The computer I’m using is a Lenovo ThinkCentre:

Device name Joe-2
Processor Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G4560T @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz
Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.9 GB usable)

Product ID 00330-50000-00000-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
Edition Windows 10 Pro
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎12/‎27/‎2022
OS build 19045.4170
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.19054.1000.0

I have this spreadsheet on an external drive that I also use with another laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad E490 Win 10), no problem with editing.

Hope this info helps. I think it has to do with “permissions” related to editing.

Thank you,
Joe

There are two tests you can do:
1.Please create a new spreadsheet and save it on the hard drive of the laptop. Close it and reopen it: can you edit it?
2. With your external hard drive connected, open Windows Explorer and go to the folder containing your file. Right-click on it and select Properties. Is the read-only flag checked?
