Just installed LIbre Office (actually did it twice) and can. not locate it on the laptop running Windows 10.0.22621. I did verify that the option to put a short cut on the desktop was checked and the wizard continued with the install but there is no icon for it there. Did a reboot of the PC as well and no luck.
Are you sure that the last installation wizard window told “successful installation”? I saw cases, where people didn’t pay attention, that that screen reported an installation problem.
In fact, if your installation succeeded, then running the installer the second time would give you only options to modify, repair, or remove it. Also, a successful installation would add an item to the system/s Apps applet, allowing you to remove it. Is this the case?
Please see FAQ.
I do not recall any messages at all…??? I did step away while it was working so could have missed it but did not click on any message windows to close them. I do not that the first install did not ask if I wanted a desk top Icon.
No need to rely on this.
.
Open Startmenu and type Libre in tge search box, wait what Windows will find.
.
Also from control center you can check “Software” for installed programs.
.
But you did the UAC approval ?
I’ve tried the exact Startmenu search and it came back empty. Makes me wonder what the install wizard was really doing??? Can someone tell me what the acronym UAC is for?
Thanks.
You could google it…
.
I refered to the question, if you wish to allow installer xyz to modify your system and give admin password, if necessary…
If you are not going to give clear and helpful answers then please don’t reply. Thanks you.
UAC is Windows User Account Control. Basically, it is a security feature through which you have to explicitly allow a program to install in Windows. A small dialogue box appears and asks for approval to install a program, if administrator approval is not given then a program cannot proceed with the installation.
