Can't run database, Java runtime error.

Have installed newest Java, verified paths. LibreDB wont acknowledge Java runtime in setup. Java control panel runs fine from from user home, so path is working. This was working on an old Libre version, after Libre update JAVA error, just updated Libre and still can’t run the data base.

Wow. You did a great job to write the question, and at the same time not mention even a single bit of information. Just as good as you hadn’t asked at all! It’s rare to see such high-quality blank question.

Which OS? Which is current LibreOffice version - including its full information from Help->About? which is the previous version that used to work? which is the “newest” Java’s version, which is its architecture, and from where it was obtained - java.com? oracle.com? AdoptOpenJDK? Distro repo? Which was the full path that you verified? Which is the full text of the error message you see? At which moment does it appear? What is shown in Options->Advanced?..

I am asking in earnest and don’t see that level of detail in other threads like distrorepo etc. I looked at several other posts asking the same question and I worded this just like the other threads. The other posts were several years old and my setup was working during that time period. This is new for the last few Libre builds.

As I said the newest version of Libre Version: 6.3.6.2 (x64)
Build ID: 2196df99b074d8a661f4036fca8fa0cbfa33a497
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win;
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US
Calc: threaded

As I also said Most current Java 8 (build 1.8.0_261-b12)

As I said it wont run the created old data base, It just will start at the opening display of tables etc.

For Windows, see this FAQ.

“Most current Java version” is 14. So 8 was unexpected.
Java architecture (32/64 bit) is still missing.
Where was it taken from is missing.
Path that it’s installed to is missing.
Exact error message is missing.

In the end, I still guess you have a usual architecture mismatch … but it would be so much easier to answer if you provided the information! Say, you write “I checked C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\bin to have java.exe” - and immediately I see that you installed 32-bit version. Or you write “I installed file jre-8u261-windows-i586-iftw.exe”. Or something…

… and it’s the problem of all other posts to get a quick and correct solution on a first sight. Missing information forces guesswork

I got it going this AM. Your right it was a 32/64 bit JAVA runtime problem. It would help if JAVA in the control panel state x86_32 instead of omitting 32 like the needed x86_64 is labeled. I looked more in the JAVA support site and it their statement of a 64 bit browser(which mine is) automatically downloading the 64 bit JAVA, it didn’t. As far as ver 8, I took what-ever JAVA posted

I wish help forums would setup a base form that state the basic info needs & protocols upfront so the asker and responder would know what was needed. I was a systems analyst which did part time fill in as help desk for the states largest community college with over 20K students/staff/faculty. I guess I was asking on a level of assumptions that power users would know when the newest download would suffice for the Ver of the programs used.

I understand the need for base information to troubleshoot and apologize being new, making assumptions, and looking at common jargon of other posts created a problem.
