I use the Tracking feature, clicking on Record and Show. Works fine. I can toggle Record off, but when I try to turn off Show, the yellow edits continue to show up regardless. Repeating the effort does not help.

when turning off to record your changes you turn off recording of future changes. Changes recorded until you turned off recording changes need to be Accepted before they won’t be shown as tracked changes any longer. To accept all previous changes:
Edit -> Track Changes -> Accept All
