Captions for Equations

When I want to caption a table, image figure etc. there is a choice for the type. Equation there is no choice. How can I add that choice?

AutoText has Function numbering. Type FN and press F3 which will insert a sample function in a table, with the numbering at the right. It is not in the same style as the other captioning and might not suit your application.

The categories in the dialog of Insert>Caption are only courtesy for the most common cases. An equation is part of a specialized domain that casual reader (or writer) doesn’t use much.

You are free to enter your own category in the entry box to replace the default. Behind the scene, Writer will create a new counter and do everything necessary.

Take special attention to the name of your category. The name is case-sensitive. So, take care to always write it the same.
