Cell heights automatically adjust with Text Wrap on, cutting off some text

I am using Calc for entering text (two or three short sentences per cell). I have text wrap turned on on these cells and usually everything formats correctly. However, sometimes when I edit the text in a cell, the entire row’s height will shrink, cutting off text in several cells. When I double-click on the row border to adjust the row size, the row re-sizes and shows all of the text - but if I edit any cell in that row, the row height will shrink again.

I think this may be tied to the zoom setting - I normally edit my spreadsheets at 80% zoom. When I tried setting the zoom to 100%, the cells had the correct sizing.

Is there a way to prevent the cell height auto-sizing from cutting off text while at 80% zoom?

  • LibreOffice version?
  • File type? (.ods? .xls?)
  • Applied styles and manual formating properties?

Attached is a snippet of the spreadsheet I’m currently working on. If I double-click on the bottom border of row 8 to auto-size it to the text, I can see the full text in cell H8. If I then type something short (a single space, word, letter, etc.) in some cells on that row (like L8), Row 8 will resize and cut off portions of the top and bottom line in cell H8. If I change the vertical alignment in cell H8, that simply changes what text gets cut off, not whether or how much text gets cut off.

I’m using version 7.1.2.2 on Windows 10. Using .ods.

I tried to take out irrelevant formatting from this spreadsheet, and found that small changes (filter vs no filter, number of rows above this one, etc) occasionally hide this specific instance of the problem. It is rather inconsistent.
