Cell styles function not working

Hello there,

I am not getting any response while using Manage Styles from the Styles tab.

Same when I right click in a cell and select Styles and then Edit Style.

Not using any spreadsheet protection.

Tried it on different spreadsheets including a fresh one.

Has anyone else noticed this or (most probably) I am doing something wrong.

Help much appreciated, thanks.

Please provide more detail:

  • What exactly did you do while using the Manage Styles toolbox?
  • What response did you expect?
  • What content (if anything) did you have in the active cell/selected range when using style tools?
  • Are you seeing other things you did not expect?
Unusual coloration, side panels open, indicators on the status bar (bottom edge of the window)

Cell Styles in Calc

I want to create a custom Style and template and have been reading the LibreOffice Calc Guide on how to do this. As I understand it when I select Manage Styles from the Styles menu I should get a cell style dialoge but nothing happens.

I am able to choose from the pre defined styles.

Also if I select the styles option from the View menu nothing happens.

No, Styles|Manage Styles (F11) just makes sure that the sidebar with styles panel is open (and if it is, nothing visible would happen, it would just get the focus, so keyboard would affect its controls).

Ah, I see that everything was happening in the Sidebar Deck which was closed.

Sorry for taking your time.

You may have accidentally activated value highlighting, which defeats some parts of character formatting. Toggle it by keyboard shortcut ctrl+F8 or menu item View - Value highlighting and see whether your expected response appears.
