Change of borderline style for just one particular line in a table: the tutorial doesn't work!

Hello ! I wanted to make just the second horizontal line of a table doubled. However, there is no option of just drawing it, like with MS Office. I read this

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/ro/text/scalc/guide/borders.html

and it looks like it’s supposed to be possible, but I have Libre Office 7.5.1.2 (Macbook Pro), there is no option “Format - Cells.” as instructed in the webpage. Could anyone please help me? I am on the verge of deciding whether to buy a Microsoft Office: I do have office (bought 2011), but it will no longer work if I update my OS (Mojave) to whatever is appropriate. I will appreciate your help!

Please complete your description.
You have set the tag Writer. But the link you mentioned describes Calc.

In Writer, the handling for bordering tables may be a bit more complex. For simple tables you can use AutoFormat. For tables with subbunches of cells (join cells), you probably need to use direct formatting.

Creating a table in Writer

Pay special attention to the fact that LO is not a direct replacement for M$O; it is another office suite. If you don’t question your routine and don’t read, even superficially, the various guides, you’ll stumble on the differences between both suites. To switch successfully from one application to another, you must force yourself to forget what you think to know and discover the new app. Of course, your experience will help you to tame it, but don’t believe you can avoid reading introductory documentation.

Oooh, I didn’t realize that. I just googled and that page came up! Thank you !

I’m not a serious user of either of them, I’m not so familiar with MS Office either… it’s just that occasionally I have to type something up to look nice, but not so often, so I just look for info each time I need: usually just googling was enough… reading guides probably wont help much, if I’m going to use it again a few months later;;

Create the table. Select the first row. Right click and select Table Properties… from the context menu. Go to the Borders tab. In the User-defined area, click on the bottom line. You may need to click on it more than once to get it to select that line. Choose the line style, color, and width you desire. Click OK.

Thank you very much !! I didn’t realize that I could just choose one line in the field “User-defined” to change the style of that line, without changing the others ! That’s easy!!
