Is your table alone on a page?

If this is the case, you can cheat. Insert the table in a “landscape” page.

  1. Create a custom page format if you prefer not to use built-in Landscape. I suppose you know how to do it from FormatStyles & Formatting or F11.
  2. Insert a paragraph where you want your table. Go to FormatParagraph..., Text flow tab. Check Insert page break before and select Landscape (or your custom page style) for with style (don’t forget to check that one too). Click OK.
  3. Insert another paragraph and do the same stance to break back to style Standard for what follows your table.

Your document is now structured. Click in the landscape page and insert your table.

Be aware, however, that this is only a workaround: if you have header/footer they still appear at the local top/bottom of the page, i.e. near the long sides of the landscape page. This disrupts the general aspect of the document.

If this answers your question, tick the check mark at left. If you think this is valuable, please upvote the answer. And finally, if you are satisfied with it, close the question for community benefit.

Great information, but unfortunately my table is not alone on the page and must co-exist with regular, horizontal/portrait text.

Hi

  • Select the table
  • InsertFrameFrame
    • Type tab▸Size▸tick AutoSize (width & height)
    • Options tab▸PropertiesText directionRight-to-left (vertical)
    • Ok

See VerticalTable.odt
